What Makes HostSweeper.com Different From Other Hosting Directory Sites? What’s Wrong With The Rest Of Them?
In a word, integrity. We’ve all seen them – you probably even went to one or two before you came here today – those fake hosting review sites. With thousands and thousands of them out there, they’re hard to avoid. Some of them even have editorials and reviews that make you think the hosting company in the number one spot on the list is a good one to pick. And that’s what they want you to think, because the top one pays them the most money. But if you don’t pick the first one, that’s okay too – they’re all there for the same reason – their payout!
Think this is a joke or an exaggeration? You could be forgiven for thinking so, but you’d be wrong. The vast majority of web hosting company review and directory sites exist for the sole purpose of directing traffic to the affiliate links that pay them the most money. Even some of the biggest directories that have been around for years are nothing more than advertising contests for the hosting companies.
I don’t mind the fact that they’re making money from the process – I like paying my rent and putting food on my table, too. What bothers me is the illusion of testing and insight into what these web hosts really offer. Taking a commission for telling someone XYZ Host is the best when they have no idea (or worse, they know it isn’t any good) really isn’t much better than grabbing some money out of their wallet when they’re not looking. And what the customer loses in the end might be quite substantial. Many hosting companies require you to pay for two or more years to get the best monthly rate, which can easily add up to hundreds of dollars even for the cheapest of hosts. Then add in the time and frustration every time their site goes down, plus the money they’ll lose if this is a website for their business, and it really starts to pile on.
So how is someone supposed to pick a decent host these days? That’s the question I started asking myself, and I didn’t really find a good answer anywhere, so I decided to create one! That’s where HostSweeper.com comes in. Our system offers you completely honest and unbiased information, with no preference given to any advertisers or sponsors. We do still make money from some of the companies listed on the site, but that doesn’t have any effect on how they’re ranked or judged. In fact, a number of the top rated companies don’t pay us a cent to be there. Any affiliate links (ones that pay us something) are clearly marked as such.
We perform frequent tests on all the hosting companies in our directory to see which ones offer the best uptime and reliability, and display that information on the site in real-time -- after all, it doesn’t really matter how good a deal it was if they're down and your site isn’t accessible! And we encourage you our visitors to participate and tell us about your experiences with any of the hosting companies – good or bad your ratings and reviews will be posted on the site for all to see (there are some sites that actually remove negative reviews for the companies they want to be at the top of the list – sad, isn’t it?).
Thank you for taking a few minutes to see what makes us stand out from the crowd. I hope our directory will be valuable in your search for a quality hosting company, and encourage you to
contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Happy Hosting,
